Land Acknowledgement

At The Kiln Room Ceramic & Art Studio, we recognize that the land we create on is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral Peoples. Woodstock is part of the lands covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement that reminds us of our responsibility to share and care for this land in peace and respect.

As ceramic artists, we work with clay—material that comes directly from the earth. This connection to the land is at the heart of everything we do in the studio. It is a privilege to shape and transform these natural materials, and with that privilege comes a responsibility to acknowledge the histories and cultures of the Indigenous peoples who have been stewards of this land for thousands of years.

Building The Kiln Room has given us the opportunity to create a space for learning, community, and respect. We are committed to listening, supporting Indigenous artists and makers, and finding ways to give back to the communities whose land we are on.

We invite everyone who creates here to reflect on our relationship with the land and to engage in ongoing learning about the histories and contemporary realities of Indigenous peoples.
