Lamp Making Course with Pauline Halsey ✨
It’s finally here, our long-awaited 6-week Lamp Making Course, led by guest artist Pauline Halsey.
In this course, you’ll design and build your own ceramic lamp base from the ground up, and yes, we’ll light them up together in the final week.
Students are welcome to use whatever handbuilding techniques they feel most comfortable with. Slab, coil, pinch, sculptural building, or a mix of everything. This is your chance to create something functional, expressive, and completely your own. We’ll focus on building strong hollow forms suitable for lighting, refining surface details, glazing, and properly preparing your piece for hardware installation.
This is an advanced-level course, best suited for students who feel confident handbuilding or who have completed our Level 1 Handbuilding course. If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, just send us an email. We’re happy to chat.
In Week Six, we’ll install a standard lamp hardware kit, included in your course fee, into your finished ceramic base under guided supervision. Then we’ll plug them in and watch them glow. ✨
Course Includes:
• Six weeks of instruction
• Clay, glazes, and kiln firings
• Use of studio tools during class time
• A lamp hardware kit, included
• Guided in-class installation
* Please note that we will be skipping the week of May 18 due to the Victoria Day holiday.
Participants must be 15+.
As with all clay work, cracking or kiln surprises can happen. It’s part of the magic and unpredictability of ceramics, and we’ll guide you every step of the way to give your piece the best chance of success.
Spots are limited, and this one has been highly requested. We can’t wait to see what you create, and to see them all glowing together at the end. ✨
